Ernest the Chicken

• A spade helps, but everything else is found inside and around the manor.

1. Talk to Veronica: her fiancé Ernest went into the manor and never came back.
2. Go up to the top floor and talk to Professor Oddenstein. His machine turned Ernest into a chicken, and he needs three parts to fix it: a pressure gauge, a rubber tube and an oil can.
3. Pressure gauge: find the fish food and the box of poison inside the manor. Use the poison on the fish food, use the poisoned food on the fountain in the garden, then search the fountain.
4. Rubber tube: search the compost heap in the garden to find a key, then use the key on the locked door of the ground-floor room guarded by a skeleton and take the tube.
5. Oil can: search the bookcase in the library to open a secret passage, and climb down to the basement. It is a lever puzzle: levers A to F open different doors. A sequence that works: pull B and A down, then D down, put B and A back up, pull F and E down, then C down, and finally E back up. If you get lost, put every lever back up and start again.
6. Give the three parts to Professor Oddenstein. Ernest is a man again!
